Colourful, vibrant scenes with lots of detail and atmosphere.

This is a colour illustration of the interior of a wizard's house. The illustration was created by artist Nigel Spaven of Spaven Art Ltd. The illustration depicts a cluttered but cosy cottage with a stone floor and orange glow from a blazing log fire in a stone fireplace. A black and white cat is curled up in an old but comfy red chair beside a bed which is covered in a tartan blanket. A rainbow spectrum is shining through a high, round window above a large, wooden front door. A telescope and star charts lay atop an untidy book cabinet. Tables are covered in an assortment of potions, candles, parchments, notebooks and corked colourful bottles. A light emanates from an open trapdoor with stone steps leading down. The colours of the illustration are vivid and dynamic with a unique style.

This is a colour illustration of a family of rabbit characters. The illustration was created by Nigel Spaven of Spaven Art Ltd. The illustration depicts a family of rabbits, dressed in hobbit style clothing standing in a group. There are two grand-rabbits, ma and pa rabbits, one teen and two younger rabbits who are playing with their pet cat. Their village wizard is also present, in red waistcoat, yellow bow tie and blue long-tailed coat with penny whistle in top pocket. He is holding a green top hat with stars shining inside. He has a wooden staff with glowing orb attached to the top. The colours of the illustration are vivid and dynamic with a unique style.

Miscellaneous Storybook Scenes

This is a children's storybook illustration. The illustration was created by artist Nigel Spaven of Spaven Art Ltd, commissioned by writer Helen Hay, entitled 'Faery Glen Village'. The illustration depicts a faery village in a sunlit vibrant green glen with mountains in the background. A waterfall plunges down into a stream which meanders downhill to a lake. The houses are all unusual and colourful, with a blacksmiths in the village centre near a well. There are ducklings crossing the stream as their parents wait on the bank. Hens are busy eating while a highland cow can be seen close to an outlying hut. The hillside is vibrant geen and dotted with faery mounds which swirl upwards towards the top like a swhirly ice cream. The colours of the illustration are vivid and dynamic with a unique style.

The illustration depicts eccentric scientist Boris the spider, dressed in leather biker jacket and non-matching shoes, working in a chaotic underwater cave laboratory. From the window the laboratory opens inwards with curved shelving against the walls with potted herbs, bottles, jars of every colour and shape on the shelves (odours rise from some). A microscope and bubbling chemistry apparatus adorn a rickety table alongside a half-eaten sandwich and test tubes containing brightly coloured potions. The surrounding trees are covered in an array of diverse, vibrant blooms, with kites flying above. The colours of the illustration are vivid and dynamic with a unique style, allowing for easy understanding of the situation depicted.

The illustration depicts four young girls who are warrior friends preparing to do battle with invading mosquitoes. Their village can be seen in the distance. They wait, hidden amongst trees, keeping a look-out along the shoreline. They wear armour made from woven reed leaves and carry horn shaped containers which are full of anti-mosquito potions.
